Vision
Our vision is to create an inclusive society in its fullest sense. In all areas of life that our educational work can influence, we make the greatest possible contribution to realize this vision. Even though our work will not eliminate all visible and invisible barriers – the experts in their own field point out barriers and possibilities for their removal. Our educational specialists prove every day what great potential remains untapped in people with disabilities and what opportunities inclusion offers.

But what aspects does an inclusive society encompass and how can the Competence Center contribute to achieving it?
The answer is provided by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD), which specifies the general human rights for people with disabilities, as people with disabilities have the same rights as everyone else! The UN CRPD aims to implement these rights for all people and thus to achieve an inclusive society – a goal that also guides our vision.
The Competence Center for Inclusive Education Saxony-Anhalt contributes directly to the implementation of the UN CRPD in the Altmark region and beyond through its work. Through the presence of people with disabilities in the university world and the accompanying educational work – through information materials or events – public awareness (Article 8 UN CRPD) is promoted: while prejudices and fears of contact are reduced, awareness of the abilities of people with disabilities is built up. At the same time, the educational specialists can realize their right to education (Article 24 UN CRPD) through qualification and subsequently implement their right to work and employment in the general labor market (Article 27 UN CRPD).
In addition, an indirect contribution is made toward the goal of an inclusive society. Teachers, professionals, and managers who have been trained by the educational specialists pass on their experiences in their future (professional) lives. Thus, long after the encounter with the educational specialists, awareness-raising continues in the (professional) environment. Thanks to this direct and indirect influence of the educational work of the Competence Center for Inclusive Education Saxony-Anhalt, we are implementing the vision of an inclusive society. After all, the goal of an inclusive and barrier-free society benefits not only people with disabilities – reducing access barriers is a gain for society as a whole.
