Experts in their own field
The Competence Center for Inclusive Education Saxony-Anhalt began in 2019 as a project to train people with disabilities to become educational specialists who teach as experts in their own field at technical colleges and universities. Since the completion of the 3-year full-time qualification and the establishment of the competence center in 2022, the educational specialists have been raising awareness among (future) teachers, professionals, and managers in seminars, workshops, or lectures. Through their work, they not only convey the life worlds, needs, and specific perspectives of people with disabilities but also show the opportunities inclusion offers. After all, the goal of an inclusive and barrier-free society benefits not only people with disabilities – reducing access barriers is a gain for society as a whole.
The Competence Center for Inclusive Education Saxony-Anhalt is funded by the Ministry of Science, Energy, Climate Protection, and the Environment of the State of Saxony-Anhalt and is part of the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences. In addition, it cooperates with the CAU Innovation GmbH (Kiel University) based in Kiel.
